How It Works
From September 2025, government funding will be available to eligible working parents from the term after their child turns 9 months old. You can check your eligibility online.
Government funding provides 15 or 30 hours per week, usually during term time only. At Acorns Nursery, Exeter, we spread (or “stretch”) this funding across the whole year. This helps families enjoy consistent, year-round childcare and makes budgeting easier, especially for busy working parents.
How Our Stretched Funding Works at Acorns Nursery
15 hours funding
= 3 funded sessions per week
= 11¼ hours per week, all year round
30 hours funding
= 6 funded sessions per week
= 22½ hours per week, all year round
(Subject to availability)
Funded sessions can be combined with wraparound care if you need longer days.

(Please note, ad hoc sessions are subject to availability and will be charged at a higher rate from 1st April 2026. We require at least 24 hours notice for ad hoc requests.)

*Consumable charges apply. This charge covers items such as meals, snacks, drinks, special activities like cooking, craft, etc, and nappies. This is charged at £3.50 per funded session.

Important Information
● Please provide your funding code and National Insurance number as soon as you receive them.
● Let us know if you need wraparound care or additional sessions alongside your funded hours, after you have had your funded sessions confirmed.
● Parents must reconfirm their eligibility with HMRC every three months.
● We reserve the right to update our funding model if required.
